SUMMARY:The Dirty Downhill
DESCRIPTION:Downhill racing is a relatively short (3-7 minutes) one-stage race where the trail trends downhill for the majority of the track. You may think of it as having a one-stage enduro race\, although you are typically shuttled/take a lift to the top of the race course instead of having to pedal yourself. Racers are sent off individually and while passing can occur\, it is less frequent than other kinds of racing due to the shorter race course. \nDownhill racing has a higher focus on the details – knowing the course well\, selecting the fastest/cleanest lines\, shifting at the right times\, using technical bike handling skills – compared to cross country and enduro style racing. \nRace weekend consists of practice day (Saturday) and race day (Sunday). \nBy the end of practice\, you should be comfortable riding the entire course at speed\, including any difficult features. On practice day(s)\, you will be shuttled to the top of the course and then ride down\, working to get as familiar with the course as possible. Walking sections\, sessioning challenging features\, and repeatedly riding the track are the focus on practice days. \nYou may not do many entire “top-to-bottom” runs before you race until you’ve worked your way down the track\, getting comfortable with any technical features. We recommend a slow top-to-bottom roll-through of the whole course on your first ride down\, followed by picking apart the course on your subsequent runs\, where you stop to scout lines\, ride a challenging section multiple times (being careful not to interfere with riders coming down as you push up the trail)\, or walk through a section to see details that are hard to pick out while on your bike. Once you feel like you’ve mastered all the technical bits\, it’s good to get in several top-to-bottom runs\, as that will feel different than stop-and-go run-throughs (i.e.\, more tiring!). You will repeatedly shuttle to the top of the course and ride down\, but you don’t want to wear yourself out the day before the race! So watch your energy levels\, hydration\, and food intake on practice days. \nRace day is Sunday. Usually\, you will only ride down the course once on your “race run\,” although sometimes there is the option for a practice run on the morning of race day. People are assigned race times and shuttled to the top in a group with their category. At the start line\, racers are sent off individually\, with time between each racer\, and ride their course to the bottom as quickly as possible. Results are immediate. \nAfter the racing concludes\, there will be a raffle and podiums. Food will be available at the venue for purchase.

This year the event sold out in 1 hr 5 min\, to give you a sense of its popularity. \nBeers\, costumes\, good food\, crazy people on bikes\, and late nights; there are not many things in the Mountain Bike calendar\, or sports calendar for that matter\, that can compare to the experience of a 24-hour mountain bike race – they always seem to attract the best of the best and the word of the weird in the sports community\, and we’re all here for it! It’s even been dubbed “the Burning Man of mountain bike events”. If you’ve been a part of the mountain biking community\, you’ve surely heard of the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo 2026 (24HOP) and the buzz it’s been generating for years.

SUMMARY:Cohutta Races
DESCRIPTION:The Cohutta Races are an annual endurance mountain bike race located in Tennessee consisting of the Cohutta 100\, the Big Frog 65 and the Old Copper 30. The 2025 races will be held at the pavilion of the former Ocoee Whitewater Center in Copperhill\, TN.\nFrom mountain vistas to majestic waterfalls\, from flowing singletrack to soul-sucking climbs\, the Cohutta 100 has it all! For more than a decade\, the Cohutta 100 has been a staple on the endurance mountain bike scene. Hundreds of determined racers from around the world gather each year in the Cherokee National Forest to test their physical ability and mental fortitude on challenging singletrack and demanding forest service roads!  Over 12\,000 ft of elevation gain awaits your arrival! Are you ready? \nThe Big Frog 65 has been a southeastern favorite for years. With a higher ratio of climbing per mile\, it is merely shorter than the Cohutta 100\, but it isn’t less challenging. Racers will enjoy the same mountain views and fast descents from the singletrack through the Cherokee National Forest as the Cohutta 100\, but the gravel road section is slightly different. Don’t consider this a walk in the park! Bring your fitness and fortitude! We’ll bring the fatigue! \nNestled against the rabid waters of the beautiful Ocoee River\, the Old Copper 30 mountain bike race course is almost completely contained on the amazing singletrack of the beautiful Cherokee National Forest. The Old Copper 30 participants will enjoy wooded and flowing singletrack\, challenging climbs\, fast descents\, and just enough fire roads to catch your breath as you prepare for the next section of trail. It’s the perfect challenge! But rest assured…it IS a challenge!

SUMMARY:Fruita Fat Tire Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Fruita Fat Tire Festival is one of the nations longest running\, non-race Mountain Bike events; focused on celebrating bikes\, gear and trails.  The bentonite and clay soils of the Grand Valley offer some of the best\, most diverse and\, at times\, technically challenging terrain in the United States.  The North Fruita Desert 18 Rd Trail System is the perfect blend of all these with mtb trails for every skill level.  The Fruita Fat Tire Festival is a demonstration event with the goal of bringing Mountain Bike and Gear manufacturers together with avid riders interested in testing out the industries latest offerings.  3 days of riding on trails that offer fast but fulfilling loops give riders a real chance to put bikes through their paces while also allowing time for sampling multiple brands and models.  You’ll run out of energy long before you run out of new bikes and fun trails.  When you’re not riding the Downtown Fruita Venue of the Festival offers more gear\, apparel and outdoor recreation related vendors as well as music and outstanding beers from western Colorado’s own Ska Brewing.  Additionally\, this year’s festival is collaborating with CO2UT Desert Gravel to host additional Gravel Riders over the weekend and will be working to bring Gravel related manufacturers and vendors to the festival as well.
