SUMMARY:Truckee Tahoe Gravel
DESCRIPTION:Truckee Tahoe Gravel 2025\, produced by premier event operator Bike Monkey\, is a wild mixed-terrain adventure ride into the gravel and dirt roads of the majestic Tahoe National Forest.\nthere are two competitive options and a third shorter route designed for beginners or those looking for a lighter challenge. There is a great lineup of activities throughout the weekend\, making it a well-rounded experience for all participants. The event will recognize the top three men and women for each age group. There are six age groups for the long and medium courses: U20\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, and 60+. \nThe race options are fully supported with up to three well-stocked aid stations for hydration and food. There are on-bike marshals\, SAG\, and moto support along the routes. The shortest ride is free and recommended for beginner riders with a mix of dirt and pavement who want to experience light climbing. It is open to children\, but parents must supervise them. Registrants can order Biemme Kit men’s and women’s jerseys and bike accessories through the Bike Monkey store. Bikes best suited for the three routes are mixed-terrain gravel bikes with Panaracer Gravel King Tubeless tires that are 38c or bigger. People also ride hardtail mountain bikes. \nTruckee\, CA\, is a great place to visit for cyclists and those supporting the riders. It is situated in the picturesque heart of California’s northern Sierra Nevada.  Truckee is a genuine mountain town. Whether you’re a gravel grinder\, a mountain biker\, a dedicated road rider\, or a family-friendly cruiser\, there’s terrain to suit every type of rider in Truckee. Additionally\, visitors will relish the town’s convenient proximity to Lake Tahoe\, a mere 15-minute drive from its northern shores. Truckee’s Historic Downtown adds to its charm\, boasting a delightful assortment of shops\, restaurants\, breweries\, and bars like Trokay\, Old Town Tap\, and The Hoppy Duck. These dining options are close to hotels like Cedar House or a short driving distance to Lake Tahoe’s Ritz-Carlton. Not all campgrounds are open yet\, but a few are in Truckee Ranger District; Granite Flat\, Lakeside\, and Boca Campground. Some of the area’s favorite natural areas are Tahoe National Forest\, or Donner Memorial State Park. \nBike Monkey\, a premier road and gravel cycling event producer in Northern California\, produces the event.  Sister events include Fish Rock\, Heart of Gold\, Wente\, Truckee Dirt Fondo\, Hammer Road Rally\, Stetina’s Pay Dirt\,  and Rebecca’s Private Idaho. Bike Monkey events are supported with SAG vehicles\, well-stocked feed stations\, and a post-ride festival.

SUMMARY:Wente
DESCRIPTION:An 8-Hour mountain bike relay race and family camping extravaganza.\nThe Wente 8-hour mountain bike race is far beyond just your typical relay event. It is a full 3-day weekend expedition for your friends and family in one of the most magical places on earth: Wente Scout Reservation. \nThis team and solo mountain bike race fills very fast because it is limited to just 550 competitors. In reality\, the scale of the event is larger than this because racers come with friends and family. It’s what makes this experience so special. \nWente Scout Reservation plays host to thousands of scouts each year and introduces a large portion of them to the joy of mountain biking. The Wente 8-Hour MTB Relay Race does a lot to contribute to the further development of this program\, and in its way\, the future mountain bikers of America. Whether you’ve been a part of Wente’s regular programming\, or have never been exposed to the world of scouting\, you’re in for a great treat during this weekend.

SUMMARY:The Bovine Classic
DESCRIPTION:The Bovine Classic is a relatively new event billed tongue in cheek as “America’s 4th Hardest\, Cow-Themed\, Wine Country Experience” and an event that our team at Avid Cyclist considers one of the Best Gravel Cycling Events in the Southwest and California.  The event occurs in the Paso Robles wine region\, a great\, albeit under-the-radar\, cycling region\, and is co-produced by Bike Monkey and Locomotiv Performance Coaching. \nWelcome to the gravel event where serious cyclists come to unserious\, where world-class wine country meets wild gravel adventures\, and where our Lanterne Moouge finisher becomes the day’s biggest legend. \nSure\, we’ve got timed segments for the competitively inclined. Yeah\, there are awards across all four routes. And well\, Bicycling Magazine named it a top-10 must-ride gravel event for 2025. But what really sets us apart? We’re the event that feels like coming home to your herd – if your herd happened to love gravel and really bad cow puns. \nJoin our 4th year of proving that the best rides aren’t about being first – they’re about being part of something MOOvelous.

SUMMARY:Heart of Gold Gravel
DESCRIPTION:Heart of Gold Gravel features courses with an overwhelming 75% on dirt. Definitely gravel\, not “groad”. The event was created with the impetus of youth mental wellness\, and the effort to bring people together for that cause in Nevada County. This October 18th\, we ride from Nevada City’s Pioneer Park over three course options ranging from 28 – 70 miles. Each route features ample climbing and lots and lots of amazing dirt. This region is one of California’s hidden gems. For a good cause\, and on a great course\, there’s no good reason to miss out on Heart of Gold Gravel.

SUMMARY:Fish Rock 2025
DESCRIPTION:Ride Fish Rock!\n\nA road bike race with some hardcore gravel.\nChoose your weapon wisely. Fish Rock is named after the fabled road that makes this race unique. The event starts and finishes in Boonville\, California\, rolls straight up and over steep\, paved terrain to the coast\, bombs down Highway 1\, and then turns inland for a giant gravel ascent back to Boonville. \nAwards are given to the top 5 men and women in various age categories. Additionally\, new this year we will separate the top 3 men and women overall\, giving more competitors a chance to stand on the podium in their respective age groups! \nThere’s just one route\, and people don’t tell very many jokes. \nThere’s only one route for Fish Rock. It’s 70 miles and 10\,507 feet of elevation gain. The record is somewhere just under four hours. The course features 4 official aid stations.\nWe recommend you ride a road bike with 32mm tires or bigger. The course consists of mostly road with a 14 mile long\, time-consuming gravel section called Fish Rock. Some people are more comfortable riding a fast gravel bike with treaded tires. It’s a question of what makes you feel more comfortable\, and comes down to personal preference.

SUMMARY:Stetina’s Carson City Paydirt
DESCRIPTION:Stetina’s Carson City Paydirt 2025 has become a favorite gravel event among riders and was picked by Strambecco as one of the Best Gravel Cycling Race Events in the Southwest. It is produced in partnership with Bike Monkey and started by former World Pro Tour rider Peter Stetina who moved on in 2019 to concentrate on adventure racing with a focus on less-trafficked routes like gravel.  Stetina’s Paydirt offers a supported rugged gravel experience through the Pine Nut Mountains and Eastern Sierras. \nThe event is extra unique with a few fun\, creative twists including Wahoo’s Mechanical Bull which will enable participants to gain a 1-1 time bonus\, an IRC Tire-Toss which can further help riders score some critical bonus seconds\, and finally the Shimano Women’s Paydirt Challenge. Women get center stage with a $5\,000 women’s only purse (no men’s purse) and serves as one small step to tackle the problem of gender equality in cycling. \nBelow you will find information on course details\, lodging\, dining\, and other outdoor activities to do while in town for Stetina’s Paydirt.
